What came first?

ZeitSprung is a free browser puzzle in English and German. Put five events in order from oldest to newest. No account or download is needed.

How do I move the cards?

On a phone, briefly hold a card to pick it up. It follows your finger freely and lands in the open space when you let go. Drag the picture to move a card straight away. With a mouse, drag anywhere on the card; the arrow buttons still work too.

“Undo” at the top left reverses a move before you submit. With a keyboard, focus a card's picture and press Space or Enter to pick it up, use ↑ / ↓ to move it, then put it down. Esc cancels. Alt + ↑ / ↓ moves directly; Ctrl / Cmd + Z undoes a move.

Your order is only submitted when you choose “Check”.

How is my score calculated?

Five events make ten pairs. You earn one point for each pair where the older event comes before the newer event. Ten points is a perfect score. You have one scored attempt per puzzle and browser. Afterwards, open the solution to read the dates and sources.

Does everyone get the same puzzle?

Yes. The daily puzzle changes at midnight in Europe/Berlin. The launch schedule has 90 different rounds prepared through 10 January 2027. These combine 35 events backed by sources. Released puzzles are available in the archive; future rounds stay locked until their day.

How do I challenge friends?

Share your result after playing. The link opens the same puzzle and shows your shared score without giving away the answer. Your friend can compare their result with yours. The shared score is self-reported, not a verified high score.

Unlimited practice mixes give you more rounds to play. These do not affect your daily statistics. Your progress and streak are saved in your browser; they start fresh on another device.
